At the present time there are roughly 4,000 water and sewer customers billed on a monthly basis. Customers have twenty days from the billing date to pay without penalties, thereafter, a 10% penalty applies. Shutoff notices are sent to accounts which are not paid in full within forty days from the billing date.
The minimum monthly water and sewage bill for an individual who lives within the city limits is $51.41 for zero (0) gallons up to and including 3,000 gallons of water. Bills are based on metered amount of 100 GALLONS.

Reconnection charge:  When service has been disconnected for non-payment of bills a disconnection fee of $25.00 shall be charged; or in the event the delinquent bill is collected by the City in the field, an administrative fee of $25.00 shall be charged. A $25.00 reconnection fee will be assessed for each occurence where service for customers is restored, after service has been terminated for non-payment of bills. Reconnection after hours (Monday-Friday after 4pm, anytime on holidays and weedends) an additional $25.00 fee shall apply.

Returned checks:  There will be assessed a $25.00 charge for any returned checks received by the City of Bridgeport.

Fire Service Fee:  The resident fire service fee for home owners within the Bridgeport city limits is as follows:

$100 per year or $8.33 per month if your home is 2500 sqare feet or more

$80 per year or $6.66 per month if your home is under 2500 square feet

Fire Service Fee Outside City Limits: Rates and charges for properties located outside of the corporate limits of the city but within the city’s first due area are as follows:

$150 per year or $37.50 per quarter if you’re the owner of a single family unit of any size

An additional $75.00 or $18.75 per quarter if you’re the owner of any residential unit with one or more detached structures exceeding 1,000 square feet

$0.0675 per square foot if you’re the owner of a nonresidential unit structure

Outside Fire Fee Codified Ordinance

Paying your Bill:  You may either mail your payment, put it in the deposit box located in the City hall and Library parking lots or pay in person at the front counter. We gladly accept cash, checks and all major credit cards. We also offer the benefit of a direct debit payment process (ACH). Information for signing up for ACH payments is located on the back of your utility bill.

Signing Up:  New customers with the City of Bridgeport Water and Sewer Utility Department must apply in person, give at least 24 hour notice or by 12:00pm the day they wish to begin their service. Applications are taken Monday through Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm. A customer must be at the location at the time of the turn on. The following information is required of a new customer:

-- Family Member as a Personal Reference
-- Buying or Renting at Service Location
-- Signature on Application Card
