The City of Bridgeport is seeking candidates for a full-time Recreation Coordinator position. This position performs professional duties in planning, developing, coordinating, implementing, and supervising recreation, arts, and special events for the City of Bridgeport. The Recreation Coordinator assists in the operation of Parks and Recreation facilities. Duties include but are not limited to the following: Plans, organizes, coordinates, and directs assigned recreational programs and activities; Promotes department activities and events by preparing brochures, flyers, and news releases; provides information to the public and media; Performs administrative task; Meets with community groups to promote activities and encourage involvement; Provides logistical support to areas assigned for events and programs to include equipment set up and breakdown while monitoring of the facility during the event; Prepares reports, correspondence, and budget estimates for assigned programs; Develops, tracks and implements recreation program budget. Performs other related work as directed by the Parks and Recreation Director or City Manager.

The ideal candidate must have a High School diploma or GED. Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Candidate must have availability to work a variable work schedule that may include early and late hours and weekends and holidays. The City of Bridgeport is accepting applications for a full-time Group Fitness Supervisor for The Bridge Sports Complex. This position will report to the Fitness Coordinator and be responsible for the oversight of the group fitness program within The Bridge. The position will be tasked with keeping the group fitness schedule current and uploaded into Mindbody Online, announcing class changes/cancelations, keeping an active roster of instructors and subs, as well as teaching classes as workload allows. The incumbent will aid in the implementation of Covid protocols as they relate to the group fitness program. The Group Fitness Supervisor will also have scheduled hours at the fitness desk, which may include night and weekend hours. Other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate must possess a current and valid group fitness certification, current CPR/First Aid certification, and knowledge of MindBody Online. The City of Bridgeport is seeking candidates for a full-time Sports Coordinator position at The Bridge Sports Complex, our new state of the art sports facility that opened in June of 2021. The Sports Coordinator’s primary responsibilities include but are not limited to developing and executing all sports programming at the complex. This position works with the Sports Manager to create and accomplish goals and ensure all tasks are completed.

Adult, youth, and senior programming will help holistically serve the community while camps, leagues, programming, and events are vital to the success of The Bridge Sports Complex. The Sports Coordinator assists the Sports Manager in developing a comprehensive plan to inform, solicit, and foster a love of athletic activities in the Greater Harrison County Area.

The ability to track program success, budgets and forecast future activities appropriately while using creative thinking will be paramount to this position's success. This position is responsible for hiring, training, and evaluating program coaches that lead toward long-term sustainability.  

The ideal candidate must have experience in coaching/teaching sports at some level. The ability to work with adults and youth would be preferred. The preferred candidate must possess a High School Diploma or GED, bachelor's degree in a sports-related field preferred. The individual should also have excellent interpersonal skills and a strong background in planning and executing budgetary goals. Sports Performance Specialist

Job Summary:

Reporting to the General Manager, the Sports Performance Specialist will be responsible for the creation, implementation, and delivery of athlete focused training programs, both general and sport specific, at The Bridge. This will include large and small group classes, private and semi-private sessions, team training, as well as specialty camps and clinics. The Sports Performance Specialist must be able to work with the facility’s sports programs, fitness department, and other health professionals to ensure a collaborative and well-considered approach to athlete training. Other responsibilities include providing superb customer service to athletes, parents, and coaches, community outreach, facility and equipment upkeep, and other tasks as assigned.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in exercise science or related field with 2+ years’ experience working directly with athletes of varying abilities. Candidates must be certified through a nationally recognized body and must have current CPR and First Aid certificates. Additional supplemental certifications (USA-W, CES, FMS) are preferred. Candidates should have experience with the testing and tracking of athletic performance data. Familiarity with Catapult, ErgoTest, and VBT systems is encouraged.

Job Summary:

Under the Fitness Manager's general supervision, the Group Fitness Instructor leads and coordinates group adult fitness/physical training sessions for a specified health and fitness program.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Plans and leads exercise/activity sessions in one or more assigned fitness areas, such as low impact aerobics, stretching/flexibility, yoga, circuit training, general fitness, weight training, and/or specialty training.
  2. Arrives before class time to prepare the exercise room and equipment before participants arrive.

Personal trainers are responsible for providing safe and effective fitness programming in one-on-one and small group settings. Individuals holding this position must evaluate and assess client needs/goals, then document program implementation and results. This person must be able to instruct clients on exercise physiology from basic to advanced. Lifeguard

Job Summary:

Under the Aquatics Manager's supervision, the Lifeguard will ensure visitors' safety to our aquatic's facilities. Lifeguards will be responsible for explaining safety rules to guests, warning patrons about unsafe situations, and upholding the facilities' policies.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain surveillance of patrons within the aquatic facility
  2. Prevent accidents and maintain a safe environment
  3. In the event of an emergency, act appropriately and swiftly to ensure the safety of patrons

Concessions Supervisor (part-time)

Job Summary:

The Concessions Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily concession operations. The Concessions Supervisor works closely with the Food & Beverage Manager to monitor inventory, food preparation, and oversees the concessions staff. This part-time position requires a flexible work schedule, including evenings and weekends, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate concession stand to include operating concession equipment, preparing food, cleaning, and sanitizing service areas to regulated health standards, opening and closing cash drawer, and compiling daily financial reports.
  • Provides logistical support for events and programs to include equipment set up and the breakdown and monitoring of the facility during the event.
  • Serve as a lead worker at the assigned facility.
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of concession associates on a per shift basis, including training, counseling, and enforcing work procedures and service standards.
  • Inspects and ensures all stands are clean and sanitized and all equipment is working properly.
  • Verifies stand inventories before and after each event, as assigned.
  • Verifies food preparation for timeliness and proper quantities.
  • Evaluates and documents performance of stand attendants.
  • Performs opening and closing procedures for designated area.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED and two years of foodservice experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Working knowledge of and experience in the operation of foodservice facilities.
  • Working knowledge of current sanitation standards and ability to adhere to these standards.
  • Must have a current Harrison County Food Handler’s Card.
  • Demonstrated supervisory skills.
  • Ability to operate a POS System.
  • Working knowledge of computers.
  • Strength and dexterity are necessary to perform all required tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for long periods.
  • Availability to work a variable work schedule that may include early and late hours and weekends and holidays.
