The Bridgeport Fire Department exists to serve the community by providing a team of highly-trained, compassionate, professional first responders dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of life and protection of property. We provide this assistance utilizing a comprehensive all-hazards approach that includes fire suppression, rescue, fire prevention, emergency medical services, and public education.
The Fire Department responds to calls both inside and outside the City limits, as well as providing support to other local departments as needed. These responses include all fire (structure, vehicle, trash, brush, dumpster, electrical and outdoor), emergency medical calls (ALS - advanced life support, BLS - basic life support, and first responder), auto accidents, technical rescues, special assignments, bomb threats, hazardous materials incidents, Aircraft standby and mutual aid calls.
All members of the department are duel certified as Firefighters and either Emergency Medical Technician or Paramedics. The staff is spread across three shifts to meet the needs of the community 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
