Tax & License Clerk

Job Status: Full-Time Salary Range: $37,000 – $45,000
Reports to: Finance Director
Job Summary: The City of Bridgeport is in search of a Tax and License Clerk. This individual works in Revenue Collections and Tax Audit and Collections. Duties included but are not limited to: dealing directly with the public in person and over the phone to assist them with City business licenses and City Business and Occupation Tax; interpreting City of Bridgeport codes, ordinances, and policies regarding tax and the various license and explaining to customers; assisting in issuing assessments, filing liens, preparing payments for processing through the cashier system, and ensuring tax payments are properly posted. Additional duties as assigned by the Finance Director. The ideal candidate will have minimum three (3) years' collections experience, and minimum three (3) years’ experience performing administrative work with increasing responsibilities, including experience with word processing and other computer software applications such as Word, Excel, etc. Any combination of training, education, and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or GED required.
