A. Kim Haws, City Manager A MESSAGE FROM THE CITY MANAGER:

Someone once told me that the sign of an effective local government is when all segments of a community's population are addressed by City services. That is what makes Bridgeport unique. City and community services and programs address the needs of all community members. People feel safe, comfortable and listened to in Bridgeport. The quality of life is unsurpassed by any community its size in the United States.

In 1993, the community voted to institute the City Manager form of government. This decision centralized the responsibility and authority for day-to-day operations of the City in the hands of a professional administrator. With strong support from the City Mayor and City Council, I have the benefit of being able to administer to the needs of the community without being bogged down in the quagmire of local politics. What this means to you is that you can have your concerns and needs met, as a community member, without having to go through a long fight with a faceless bureaucracy.

As you view the City of Bridgeport's website, you will find it creative and stimulating. It is another symbol of the demand for excellence that the community makes on everything it is involved in. This demand for excellent begins with families and is reinforced in the community's schools, churches and its government. Come and visit us. I know you'll like what you see!

Feel free to visit or contact me if you have any suggestions or questions about the website or if you just need additional information. Thank you.

A. Kim Haws, City Manager
