BOOKS AND BABIESOpen to children ages 1-3, Books and Babies meets every Wednesday from 11-11:30 a.m. at the library. The sessions emphasize on word and number recognition, repetition, pre-phonics, and social interaction. For more information, call Bridgeport Public Library at 842-8248. STORYTIME Come and have fun at Storytime the first and third Saturdays of each month. Children ages 3 and older (parents, too) are welcome to share in the fun of stories, songs, crafts, and snacks. Reservations are always required by calling Bridgeport Public Library at 842-8248. DOG DAY AFTERNOONS We will once again be offering the Dog Day Afternoon activities for reading enhancement for young readers. This is the second year for the program, which occurs the fourth Saturday of each month at the library. Some sessions may be arranged on Wednesdays after school or early evening. This is a special program brought to the library by six teams of local dog owners who have their dogs specially certified by Therapy Dogs International (T.D.I.). The dogs must pass basic obedience training (offered twice yearly by the Clarksburg Kennel Club) and additional training to attain the T.D.I. certification. Dogs re-certify yearly at their owners' expense, so all program activity is done thanks to these dedicated animal lovers who volunteer their time and talent. Parents who would like to have their emergent readers interact with the dogs and participate in this activity need to contact Bridgeport Public Library, 842-8248, for more information or to schedule an appointment. The readers must be in first grade or older. Space is limited, so reservations are required. RECOMMENDED BOOKS SERIES BOOKS THAT WORK
