DOG DAY AFTERNOONS The Bridgeport Library is proud to offer the Dog Day Afternoon activities for reading enhancement for young readers. This is the seventh year for the program, which occurs typically the last Saturday of each month at the library. This is a special program brought to the library by six teams of local dog owners who have their dogs specially certified by Therapy Dogs International (T.D.I.). The dogs must pass basic obedience training (offered twice yearly by the Clarksburg Kennel Club) and additional training to attain the T.D.I. certification. Dogs re-certify yearly at their owners' expense, so all program activity is done thanks to these dedicated animal lovers who volunteer their time and talent. Parents who would like to have their emergent readers interact with the dogs and participate in this activity need to contact Bridgeport Public Library at 842-8248 for more information or to schedule an appointment. Space is limited, so reservations are required.
