Professional Standards | Patrol Division Bridgeport Police Civil Service Approved List Bridgeport Police 2011 Urban Deer Hunt ![]() The Patrol Division is made up of three shifts, A, B & C. Each shift is supervised by a Shift Commander (Lieutenant) and Assistant Shift Commander (Sergeant). Shifts are staffed with 1 Lt., 1 Sgt and 4 Patrol Officers. The officers work 8 hour shifts, Day 7:30 am—3:30 pm, Afternoon 3:30pm—11:30pm and Night 11:30pm—7:30am. Bridgeport officers work on a 28 day rotating schedule, which includes 20 work days in a 4 week period. The department maintains a 13 rotation yearly schedule, which officers rotate from Days to Nights, Nights to Afternoons and Afternoons to Days after the 4th Thursday of each rotation. The Patrol Division is the backbone of the Bridgeport Police Department. Patrol includes some of the most highly trained, well-qualified, and self-motivated men and women in the law enforcement profession. Patrol handles a variety of calls, usually random and varying from violent crimes to parking complaints. The division responds to thousands of emergency 911 calls each year.
