The City of Bridgeport takes your child’s safety in a vehicle very serious. That is why we are proud to have a Certified Child Safety-Seat Technician available. Officer C. B. Sayers of the Police Department has been trained and certified in all aspects of Child Safety Seats from Rear Facing Infant Carriers to Booster Seats. Officer Sayers knows that every vehicle and every child seat are different when installing them.
It is recommended that you check both the vehicle owner’s manual and the safety seat instruction book when installing. Remember, if you have a vehicle made before 1996, using only the seatbelt to install the seat is NOT enough. You must use the locking clip, a brass or silver buckle usually found attached on the rear of the child seat. Consult your safety seat manual or contact a Child Safety Seat Technician for help installing your safety seat using the locking clip as it is more complex.
If you have any questions about your Child Safety Seat do not hesitate to call Officer Sayers at 304-848-6125. Officer Sayers is assigned to Patrol and does work rotating shifts, however he can assure you of receiving help by also consulting with Child Safety Seat Technicians in the area.
Remember, keep your child in the safety seat they fit in as long as possible for maximum safety. Recommendations are to stay rear-facing until approx 2 years of age.
